Kenny Lyons & Associates Architects were delighted to present the proposed plans for the refurbishment of St. Joseph’s Convent in Ferbane, Co. Offaly on Wednesday 6th of March as part of a Public Information Event in Gallen Community School in conjunction with Offaly County Council and An Síolán Community Group. The refurbishment of St. Joseph’s Convent will see a complete renovation and upgrade of the existing building with the incorporation of new extension to maximise accessible and multi-purpose community spaces. The plans for the overall site also include an urban garden, a multifunctional sports ground and a riverbank walk along the River Brosna. Kenny Lyons & Associates Architects are currently leading a multi-disciplinary design team through the final stages of adjustment to the design proposal before the preparation of a cost plan, progression to final design, and submitting a Part 8 planning application. This project is funded through the Rural Regeneration Development Fund (RRDF) from the Department of Rural and Community Development which supports such projects as the convent refurbishment. The project addresses a community need for multipurpose space while tackling vacancy and will have an impact on sustainable economic and social development in Ferbane into the future.
